Mental Health Consultant - LICSW or Licensed Psychologist Heart-Centered Health Location: On-site in Sedro-Woolley, WA Job Type: Part-time Schedule: 20 hours per week Pay: $85.00 per hour and up + travel stipend Required Washington State License Applicants must currently hold one of the following active, unrestricted Washington State licenses : Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) ; or Licensed Psychologist This position is not open to associate-level clinicians, LMHCs, LMFTs, social workers without an LICSW credential, or psychologists who are not independently licensed in Washington State. Position Overview Heart-Centered Health is seeking an experienced Mental Health Consultant to provide 20 hours of on-site mental health services each week within a federally funded residential education and career-training program serving youth and young adults ages 16-25. The Mental Health Consultant will provide clinical assessment, short-term counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, referral coordination, and mental health education. This position works closely with the health and wellness team, program leadership, and other staff to support student safety, stability, and success. The ideal candidate is dependable, collaborative, comfortable working with adolescents and young adults, and able to provide sound clinical guidance in a structured, multidisciplinary environment. Key Responsibilities Conduct mental health assessments and evaluate students presenting with emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric concerns. Complete suicide-risk, self-harm, and safety assessments and assist with crisis-response planning. Provide brief, solution-focused individual counseling within the scope of the program. Coordinate referrals to community mental health providers and higher levels of care when appropriate. Consult with medical, wellness, counseling, residential, academic, and administrative staff. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and student-support planning. Provide staff education and guidance related to mental health, crisis prevention, trauma-informed care, and behavioral concerns. Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential clinical documentation. Follow HIPAA, FERPA, mandatory-reporting, and facility-specific confidentiality requirements. Communicate promptly with Heart-Centered Health regarding scheduling, operational concerns, and matters affecting the assignment. Minimum Qualifications Active and unrestricted Washington State LICSW license or Washington State psychologist license . Master’s degree in social work for LICSW applicants or an appropriate doctoral degree for psychologist applicants. Experience conducting clinical assessments, safety evaluations, and crisis interventions. Experience working with adolescents, young adults, residential programs, schools, community mental health, or similar populations. Strong clinical judgment, professional boundaries, documentation skills, and communication abilities. Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team. Consistent attendance, reliability, and professional follow-through. Ability to successfully complete all required credentialing, background checks, health screenings, and facility onboarding requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a residential, educational, vocational, correctional, or federally funded youth program. Experience supporting individuals with trauma histories, substance-use concerns, behavioral challenges, or complex psychosocial needs. Familiarity with community mental health resources and referral networks. Training in suicide prevention, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, or crisis stabilization. Compensation $85.00 per hr and up, depending on licensure, experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the position.
