Embrace an opportunity to make a lasting impact as a Paraprofessional working with a student requiring 1:1 social-emotional and behavioral support. This contract assignment is conveniently located near New Britain, CT, and will run from October 1 through November 30, with a chance for extension depending on program needs.
This role is ideal for a compassionate and patient individual, experienced in working with children in a school setting and dedicated to fostering a positive learning environment. You'll provide essential support by working onsite during regular school hours—Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Desired Background and Experience:
- Recent experience as a paraprofessional in a school setting.
- Proven success supporting elementary-aged children with social-emotional and behavioral needs.
- Ability to build trusting, supportive 1:1 relationships with students.
- Exceptional communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with teachers and clinical staff.
- Calm, patient demeanor with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in education or child development preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, individualized support to a student throughout the school day.
- Assist with the implementation of behavior management plans.
- Facilitate positive peer interactions and support the development of coping skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other support staff to ensure consistent, effective care.
- Encourage active participation and engagement in classroom activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and incidents as needed.
