For more information, visit nyit.edu.Overview:Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President, the Director of Finance and Operations for Academic Affairs provides fiscal and operational support for the Provost and is the primary budget officer, providing fiscal oversight, for Academic Affairs. This includes but is not limited to purchasing, budget planning, forecasting and analysis, financial reconciliation, and reporting. The Director also serves as the primary liaison to central University budget and finance; provides financial and resource context for all Academic Affairs strategic planning efforts; and ensures that all institutional procedures and policies are adhered to as it relates to purchasing and requisitions, p-card use, staff expenses, reconcilement, and reimbursements.ResponsibilitiesBudget Management & LeadershipWorking with the Provost, the Director will manage budget schedules and the Academic Affairs support units (non-college) budget files (budget worksheets and position control report) from Financial Affairs, breaks them down into various areas (e.g., Honors College, Undergraduate Student Success & Advising (USSA), Center for Faculty Excellence, Student Employment), and distributes them accordingly.Provide support to all Academic Affairs colleges and non-academic units to submit proposed and actual budgets during fiscal year budget planning.Assist the Provost and senior management in making spending decisions, completes new operating budget requests, reviews and verifies the entire Academic Affairs budget.Summarize the budget by area and submit the final proposed budgets. This involves working with the college’s financial managers to review their budget-related information.The Director will make corresponding recommendations wherever appropriate and joins the Provost in budget meetings as needed.Manage and make budget amendments in Workday to cover operational items (e.g., purchases, expense reports); communicate and work with college financial managers on various budget adjustments and/or operational related issues.International Budget & PlanningAs needed, liase with international partners (e.g., EFAP, JUFE) for different inquiries and/or requests. Manage issues and/or requests related to these international partners.Faculty Hiring Budget PlanningWork with the Provost on budgeting and costs for hiring faculty as well as release time, start-up packages, and other stipends, where appropriate, for faculty.Make budget adjustments to colleges/departments after approval and as needed.Work with the individual college financial managers on faculty related budgeting.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree required, preferably in financial services, business operations.Master of Business Administration preferred. 5+ years of experience in a financial services environment or a higher education business office setting. Prior Experience in Higher Education budget and planning highly preferred. Core Competencies & Technical Skills: Must have knowledge of budget oversight and planning as well as a high level of data analysis skills. Detail oriented, thorough, and accurate. Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work effectively and collegially with all levels of management and staff. Excellent customer service skills & ability to manage all personnel and fiscal matters in a professional and highly confidential manner. Commitment to deadlines, ability to develop and execute work plans and to prioritize and handle multiple assignments from multiple individuals promptly and accurately. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity using a financial database management system (e.g., Workday) is necessary.
