Job Summary
Looking for someone with retail experience to join our team and manage an already running and operating self storage facility that offers shipping as well along with a store that that sells items through auction/online platforms such as eBay, Craigslist, LiveAuctioneers, auction ninja and manages a couple of rental properties. Candidate Must be willing to drive and pick up items from auction houses and other locations as well.
This is an opportunity for someone who is looking for a career, not a job. There is a great potential for this to be a long term, well paying position for someone who takes the initiative to grow the business from where it is to the next level as commission opportunities will provide a good bonus to the base pay.
Education is great and experience in any of these platforms can help but what will really matter is the candidates willingness to work and be committed to taking on the task of putting the time in and focusing on growing a business while multi tasking and taking care of the business that is already there. We have a great team already in place but want to expand and need one more person who has what we are missing.

Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the self-storage facility and auction house to ensure efficient, organized, and professional service.
- Manage customer accounts, rental agreements, payments, and move-in/move-out processes.
- Maintain occupancy levels through customer outreach, marketing initiatives, and excellent customer service.
- Conduct regular property inspections to ensure facility cleanliness, safety, and security standards are met.
- Coordinate unit auctions in compliance with state laws and company policies, including lien processing and auction scheduling.
- Manage inventory intake, organization, pricing, and sales of auctioned or abandoned items.
- Supervise staff, assign duties, provide training, and ensure team performance meets operational goals.
- Handle customer inquiries, disputes, and escalations in a professional and timely manner.
- Monitor facility security systems, access controls, and surveillance equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions, tenant files, auction documentation, and inventory reports.
- Work with vendors, maintenance personnel, and contractors to address repairs and operational needs.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue through storage rentals, auctions, and retail sales.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to storage operations and auction activities.
- Prepare operational reports, sales summaries, and performance metrics for ownership or upper management.
- Assist with marketing efforts, social media promotions, and community outreach events to increase visibility and customer engagement.
- Maintain a professional, customer-focused environment while supporting business growth and profitability.
- Oversee daily operations of the auction house, including consignment intake, inventory management, online listings, and customer service.
- Meet with consignors to evaluate items, explain consignment terms, and coordinate intake procedures.
- Research, identify, and accurately describe merchandise for sale across multiple online marketplaces and auction platforms.
- Create detailed and compelling listings for platforms such as eBay, Craigslist, AuctionNinja, and other online sales channels.
- Photograph merchandise professionally to maximize visibility and buyer interest.
- Establish pricing strategies, reserve amounts, and auction timelines based on market trends and item value.
- Manage online auctions from listing through final sale, including monitoring bids, responding to buyer inquiries, and resolving disputes.
- Coordinate pickup, shipping, and delivery logistics for sold merchandise.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, consignment agreements, payment tracking, and sales documentation.
- Process consignor payouts and ensure timely reconciliation of auction proceeds and fees.
- Supervise staff involved in intake, photography, cataloging, packing, customer support, and warehouse organization.
- Ensure merchandise is stored safely, organized efficiently, and handled with care.
- Monitor marketplace performance, sales analytics, and customer feedback to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Handle customer service issues professionally, including returns, complaints, and transaction disputes.
- Maintain compliance with platform policies, company procedures, and applicable business regulations.
- Develop marketing and promotional strategies through social media, email campaigns, and online advertising to increase bidder participation and sales.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with consignors, buyers, collectors, estate representatives, and local businesses.
- Assist with estate cleanouts, large-scale consignments, and special auction events as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional auction house and warehouse environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in self-storage, property management, retail management, warehouse operations, or a related field preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to resolve issues professionally.
- Experience handling cash transactions, payment processing, and basic bookkeeping.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable using computers, point-of-sale systems, storage management software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to supervise employees, delegate tasks, and maintain accountability.
- Knowledge of lien laws, storage auction procedures, and facility operations preferred.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lift, move, and organize items as needed throughout the facility.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed for auctions or operational demands.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional business or management experience is a plus.
