Job Summary The Maintenance Mechanic will ensure daily operations of equipment in a production setting, to include start up, operation, shut down, and sanitation of all related equipment according to Standard Operation Procedures. Schedule Tuesdays through Saturdays 10:00 pm–6:30 am. Responsibilities Ensure on-time start-up of equipment. Expedite all categories 3 & 4 (Food Quality/Food & Employee Safety) work orders and maintain high-risk work permits per SQF. Adhere to plant GMP and sanitation policies and OSHA regulations. Maintain environmental paperwork related to WWTP operations. Assist in designing, improving, and installing equipment and systems to enhance plant quality, safety, and production. Repair all equipment breakdowns, carry out preventative maintenance, and perform general repairs. Handle general maintenance including building, plumbing, electrical work, and boiler maintenance. Operate, maintain, and repair the anhydrous ammonia system. Bring your own small hand tools. Pass pulmonary function/respiratory test annually. Attend scheduled meetings and mandatory training. Perform Central Sanitizer, House Water, and Cheese Water chemical testing each shift. Support SQF by maintaining food safety and quality, keeping the work area sanitary. Maintain all documented information as per SQF requirements. Work overtime as needed, complying with obligations. Carry out all additional duties assigned by a supervisor or foreman. Understand and follow all safety procedures, always wear proper PPE, never put yourself or others in harm’s way. Qualifications Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with industrial equipment. Knowledge of GMP, sanitation, OSHA, and SQF standards. Familiarity with WWTP and environmental documentation. Ability to work night shifts and weekends. Physical ability to stand on feet 10 hours a day, lift/heavy work as needed. Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions. Valid driver’s license preferred but not required. Must be able to pass pulmonary function/respiratory test annually. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location. The pay range for this position is $28.66 – $28.66 USD.
