Norvell & Scott PC is an established and growing public accounting firm in Florence, Alabama, seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team. We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable, dependable, detail-oriented, and enjoys working directly with clients while providing high-quality tax and accounting services.

This position is ideal for an experienced tax professional who is ready to take on greater responsibility, work independently, and become a valued member of a local CPA firm.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, and other business tax returns
• Perform tax research and provide tax planning recommendations
• Review financial statements and accounting records for accuracy and completeness
• Assist clients with tax questions and accounting-related issues
• Communicate directly with clients to gather information and resolve questions
• Prepare monthly and year-end write-up and accounting work as needed
• Assist with payroll, payroll tax, sales tax, and other accounting compliance services
• Identify potential tax-saving opportunities and planning strategies
• Review work prepared by staff accountants and provide guidance when appropriate
• Manage multiple client engagements and meet required deadlines
• Stay current on federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
• Maintain accurate and organized client files and documentation
• Perform other accounting and tax-related duties as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3+ years of public accounting and tax preparation experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of individual and business taxation
• Experience preparing Forms 1040, 1120, 1120-S, and 1065
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Ultra Tax experience a plus
• QuickBooks experience preferred
• CPA license or eligibility for CPA licensure is a plus
