Position Description Student Leader Development & Supervision (20%) Supervise 4- 21 Resident Assistants (RAs), 7-14 Desk Assistants (DAs), 1-2 Desk Coordinators (DCs), and 1-2 graduate-level Assistant Residential Community Coordinators (ARCC). Assist in the recruitment, selection, formation, and development of student leader staff. In collaboration with other Housing and Residence Life staff, develop, facilitate, and lead student staff training sessions and other departmental sessions. (i.e.., in-services and formation nights) Residential Student Learning & Community Engagement (20%) Maintain knowledge of campus academic resources and provide appropriate referrals. Implement the Redhawk Residential Experience (RRE). Advise and support RAs through the community outreach planning process, including tracking and assessment of area initiatives. Create RRE facilitation guides and tools. Track Hawk Talks (Intentional Interactions) between RAs and residential students and engage in data review and action planning. Provide support and presence to HRL's Residence Hall Association through Area Council advising. Partner with Campus Ministry (Resident Ministers and Jesuits in Residence) to provide additional support in the residential communities. Serve on or chair departmental collaterals and committees related to Student Staff Recruitment and Formation, Graduate Formation and Selection, and the Redhawk Residential Experience. Student Care, Formation, and Crisis Response (20%) Maintain knowledge of University and Housing & Residence Life policies and procedures with the ability to direct students to appropriate resources. Advises and refers individual students and groups regarding personal and academic needs. Educate staff and residents on safety and security concerns and appropriate emergency response procedures. Serve in the professional staff 24/7 duty rotation, including consultation with on-duty RAs and leadership team members, and making appropriate referrals for students. Engage in Care case management and refer students to appropriate resources. Serve as hearing officer supporting student learning and formation while holding students accountable to the Redhawk Commitment, Code of Conduct, and Resident Handbook. Includes conducting Administrative Hearings and writing related conduct letters and correspondence. Conduct low-level residential floor ownership and resident follow-up from a developmental perspective aligned with campus and departmental values. Building Operations & Financial Management (20%) Work with building maintenance and custodial supervisors to address building and student needs related to the facilities. Oversee the coordination of the front desk, which manages keys, mail and packages, and other service functions. Facilitate processes to ensure physical spaces are kept in good condition and damages to the facility are tracked and communicated to residents for appropriate accountability. Manage residential hall/community budgets that include programming, office supplies, area/hall council events, and student staff payroll. Utilize a variety of purchasing methods to support events in the community. Utilize and manage university procurement card and reconciliation protocol. Administration (20%) Communicates departmental needs and instructions to staff and students. Solicits staff and student input in decision-making, as appropriate. Facilitates effective communication between all staff and students. Attend weekly staff meetings with other Housing and Residence staff and meet weekly with supervisor. Support departmental processes for move-in and closing of the residence halls. Assist with the implementation and evaluation of HRL's strategic plan. Serve as the HRL liaison to other student development functional areas and other academic support units. Perform other duties as assigned by HRL and the Student & Campus Life Team within the broader Division of Academic & Student Affairs. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in social sciences, psychology, education, or related field and two years of previous experience as a resident assistant in an educational setting demonstrating responsibility for assisting with the full range of responsibilities associated with being a RCC or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. A demonstrated commitment to social justice, inclusion, and equity with the ability to work with students from various backgrounds and lived experiences. The ability to work with students to help them find their sense of belonging while living on campus. All candidates must show a demonstrated commitment to the university's mission, vision, and values. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or related field and two years of previous experience in residence life or other student development and educational settings demonstrating responsibility for assisting with the full range of responsibilities associated with being an RCC. The ideal applicant will possess the ability to use student learning and development theory as it relates to implementing the Redhawk Residential Experience, a commitment to being a student-centered educator, and to the concepts of community, service and social justice, diversity, integration of academic and campus life, and holistic development. Excellent interpersonal, crisis management, managerial, and community engagement skills are necessary, as well as an understanding and/or openness to the values of Jesuit/Catholic Higher Education. Compensation At a Glance $22.00 - $23.03/hr Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
