Graduate Nurse - Registered Nurse - Post-Licensure

Pay Range: $31.21 - $49.94 (Hourly) Scheduling: Full time, 7 p.m.–7 a.m. shifts with varying nights, every 3rd weekend, holiday requirement, no on‑call requirement. Job Summary: Licensed new graduate nurse from an accredited nursing program who actively participates in SSM Health New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Provides professional nursing care to patients, including assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and monitoring tasks assigned to other members of the care team in accordance with professional nursing standards. Responsible for the delivery of age‑appropriate care for assigned patients with a wide variety of medical conditions. Job Responsibilities Performs specialized tasks based on demonstrated competence to provide nursing care for the patient population served. Conducts patient assessments including biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and age‑appropriate needs; assesses nutrition, pain management, and signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect to develop, evaluate, and modify the patient’s plan of care. Develops a realistic, comprehensive patient‑family educational plan, using appropriate resources and methods of instruction, and provides patient/family health education and coaching. Completes accurate and timely documentation, including processing of physician orders, in accordance with policies and procedures; monitors and evaluates delivery of nursing care given by team members based on patient needs and professional judgement. Collaborates with physicians and other health‑care professionals regarding all aspects of patient care. Completes competency and other required training. Applies the existing body of evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on the patient’s age‑specific and clinical needs as described in the department’s scope of service. Maintains a constant state of alertness and works safely. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing. Experience No experience required. Physical Requirements Constant use of speech for oral communication. Constant standing and walking. Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 0–25 lbs. Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (≤ 20 in.) and far (≥ 20 ft.) and to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors. Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and hear alarms or malfunctioning machinery. Occasional lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 25–50 lbs. Occasional lifting or moving of patients. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional driving. Rare crawling and running.
