Commissioning SpecialistLocation: Houston, TX Job Type: Contract-to-Hire OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Commissioning Specialist to support commissioning projects for a leading client in Houston, TX. This position will participate in both onsite field activities and office-based project support, with responsibility for leading and performing a broad range of commissioning activities.The Commissioning Specialist will support projects involving new construction, renovations, existing building commissioning, and asset management. This role will work directly with clients, project stakeholders, contractors, and project teams to achieve successful project outcomes with a focus on operational performance, efficiency, reliability, and compliance with established design requirements.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and plumbing commissioning within building and facility environments. Experience with healthcare facilities is highly desirable. Candidates whose backgrounds are primarily electrical or petrochemical commissioning will not be considered for this opportunity.ResponsibilitiesLead and perform commissioning activities for new construction, renovations, existing buildings, and asset management projects.Perform and oversee commissioning testing, including QA/QC inspections and Functional Performance Testing.Support equipment and systems startup activities to ensure safe and reliable operation.Commission mechanical, plumbing, building automation, controls, utility infrastructure, and other facility systems.Review project documentation, design requirements, equipment specifications, and operational criteria.Coordinate commissioning activities with owners, clients, contractors, design teams, vendors, and other project stakeholders.Identify deficiencies, document findings, and support the development and resolution of corrective action plans.Verify that building systems and equipment operate in accordance with approved design requirements and stakeholder expectations.Participate in onsite field activities, testing, inspections, meetings, and project coordination.Support the development and review of commissioning plans, test procedures, reports, and closeout documentation.Apply knowledge of facility operations, maintenance requirements, and system performance to improve overall building functionality and efficiency.Travel to project sites as required, including multi-week field assignments and occasional longer-term assignments.QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in commissioning and/or facility systems operations.Strong experience with mechanical and plumbing systems, utility infrastructure, building automation systems and controls, building systems/components, and facility operations and maintenance.Experience commissioning systems in commercial, institutional, healthcare, or other complex building environments.Healthcare commissioning experience is highly preferred.Working knowledge of ASHRAE and NFPA standards and requirements.Working knowledge of Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) processes, mechanical testing, and applicable building and facility codes.U.S. Citizenship required.Ability to travel up to 50%, including multi-week field assignments and occasional longer-term project assignments.Industry-recognized commissioning certification is a plus.Strong communication, coordination, documentation, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with clients, contractors, engineers, and other project stakeholders.Aspen Technical Staffing CELEBRATING 25 YEARS ~2001-2026~We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
