The Adjunct Nursing Faculty – BSN Program provides high-quality, student-centered online didactic instruction to pre-licensure and RN-to-BSN nursing students on a course-by-course basis . This role supports student academic success, engagement, and course completion through effective online teaching, assessment, and feedback.

Adjunct faculty are responsible for facilitating assigned courses, delivering course content as designed, evaluating student performance, and maintaining regular communication with students. Ideal candidates demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and listening skills, and are able to adapt to a fast-paced academic environment while managing grading deadlines and instructional responsibilities.

This is a part-time, instructional position supporting the Division of Nursing. The role requires regular interaction with students, course coordinators, and academic leadership through virtual meetings, online discussions, and electronic communication. Adjunct faculty are expected to possess strong knowledge of nursing practice, curriculum standards, online pedagogy, and accreditation expectations relevant to the assigned course(s).

Adjunct Nursing Faculty support students by clarifying course expectations, monitoring academic progress, and providing appropriate guidance and referrals when academic or personal challenges arise. This role requires maintaining confidentiality and accurate academic records in compliance with accreditation standards, institutional policies, and federal regulations (e.g., FERPA). A commitment to equity, access, and student success—particularly for diverse and at-risk populations—is essential.

Salary Range

Per course (commensurate with experience)

Responsibilities

1. Provide online didactic instruction and academic support to assigned nursing students.
2. Facilitate asynchronous BSN courses in alignment with established course objectives, program outcomes, and accreditation standards.
3. Implement instructional strategies that promote student engagement and course completion.
4. Provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments, discussions, and assessments.
5. Utilize the institution’s learning management system to manage course materials, grades, and communication.
6. Maintain availability to students through virtual office hours, email, and approved communication platforms.
7. Adhere to established grading timelines and academic policies.
8. Participate in required adjunct orientation, training, and annual professional development.
9. Maintain accurate academic records and documentation in compliance with institutional, accreditation, and federal requirements.
10. Collaborate with course coordinators, full-time faculty, and program leadership to ensure instructional consistency.
11. Provide appropriate referrals for academic or personal concerns impacting student success.
12. Uphold confidentiality and comply with institutional policies and accreditation standards.
13. Maintain familiarity with current nursing education standards and online teaching best practices.
14. Communicate regularly with the BSN Program Director or Dean of Nursing as needed.

Education & Experience

Education or Training:

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution (required)
• Graduate degree in nursing or education (MSN, DNP, PhD, EdD) preferred

Experience:

• Minimum of four (4) years of recent clinical nursing experience preferred
• Prior online teaching experience or completion of online teaching training preferred
• Experience teaching in a BSN or RN-to-BSN program preferred
• Familiarity with CCNE accreditation standards and AACN Essentials preferred
• Experience with online simulation or virtual clinical platforms preferred

Other Requirements

• Unencumbered, active U.S. RN license (licensure in the state of program delivery may be required)
• Proficiency with learning management systems
• Reliable internet access and a secure, quiet remote work environment
• Flexible availability to support course schedules, including evening or weekend grading or communication as needed
