Buyer/Planner

Tempo Communications is looking for a Buyer/Planner to join our operations team in Vista, CA. This is a hands‑on role where you'll manage the day‑to‑day procurement of components and materials for assigned product lines while ensuring supply continuity, controlling inventory levels, and building strong vendor relationships. You'll work closely with production, engineering, and logistics teams to keep materials flowing and production on schedule. What You'll Do Manage purchase orders from creation through delivery, tracking open orders and resolving discrepancies. Develop and execute procurement strategies for assigned product lines. Analyze demand forecasts, production schedules, and inventory levels to determine optimal ordering quantities and timing. Build and maintain vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, coordinate RMAs, and maintain open order balances. Monitor inventory levels and work to improve turns and reduce excess. Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities through sourcing, negotiation, and process improvement. Collaborate daily with manufacturing, engineering, production, and logistics teams to ensure seamless material availability. Maintain accurate inventory data and support production schedules to balance supply and demand effectively. What We're Looking For 2–5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or materials planning in a manufacturing environment. Hands‑on experience with an ERP system (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Great Plains, or similar). Solid understanding of MRP, JIT purchasing, and inventory management principles. Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable pricing and terms. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze production data, and meet tight deadlines. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication abilities. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel. Education Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operation Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
