Personalized Assistance Caregiver Provide personalized assistance to individuals with disabilities or illness who require help with personal care and activities of daily living support (e.g., feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and ambulation). May also provide help with tasks such as preparing meals, doing light housekeeping, and doing laundry. Work is performed in various settings depending on the needs of the care recipient and may include locations such as their home, place of work, out in the community, or at a daytime nonresidential facility. Education and Experience High School Diploma - or the equivalent (GED) preferred but not required Non-skilled caregiver position - Training will provided and prior experience is not necessary Knowledge English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Transportation - Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits. Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Psychology - Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. Public Safety and Security - Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions. Skills Basic Skills for Unskilled Caregiver Position Compassionate and Caring Attitude: Ability to show empathy and kindness toward clients. Good Communication Skills: Clear, respectful, and effective communication with clients and team members. Patience and Flexibility: Ability to handle challenging situations calmly and adapt to changing needs. Basic Observation Skills: Noticing changes in clients' physical or emotional condition. Reliability and Punctuality: Consistently arriving on time and completing assigned duties. Ability to Follow Instructions: Willingness to adhere to care plans and supervisor guidance. Physical Stamina: Ability to perform light physical tasks such as assisting with mobility or activities of daily living. Basic Hygiene and Safety Awareness: Understanding of personal and client hygiene practices and safety procedures. Dependability: Trustworthy with responsibilities and maintaining client confidentiality. Basic Documentation Skills: Ability to accurately record care provided or incident reports as needed. Social Skills Coordination- Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions. Instructing- Teaching others how to do something. Negotiation- Bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences. Persuasion- Persuading others to change their minds or behavior. Service Orientation- Actively looking for ways to help people. Social Perceptiveness- Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Work Context Caregiver to perform daily ADLs in client's home Caregiver must have reliable transportation Valid Driver's license Caregiver experience preferred Primary Job Duties Perform healthcare-related tasks, such as monitoring vital signs and medication, under the direction of registered nurses or physiotherapists. Administer bedside or personal care, such as ambulation or personal hygiene assistance. Prepare and maintain records of client progress and services performed, reporting changes in client condition to manager or supervisor. Perform housekeeping duties, such as cooking, cleaning, washing clothes or dishes, or running errands. Care for individuals or families during periods of incapacitation, family disruption, or convalescence, providing companionship, personal care, or help in adjusting to new lifestyles. Instruct or advise clients on issues, such as household cleanliness, utilities, hygiene, nutrition, or infant care. Participate in case reviews, consulting with the team caring for the client, to evaluate the client's needs and plan for continuing services. Provide clients with communication assistance, typing their correspondence or obtaining information for them.
