Registered Respiratory Therapist

Registered Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive respiratory care to patients of all ages under physician direction, delivering treatments, monitoring, and education in a collaborative hospital environment. The role requires strong clinical expertise, critical thinking, and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide respiratory therapy treatments and interventions as ordered by physicians or approved practitioners
• Assess, treat, and monitor patients with cardiopulmonary disorders
• Respond to emergency situations and actively participate in emergency drills
• Operate and maintain respiratory care equipment safely and effectively
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Support and involve Primary Support Persons or family members in patient care when appropriate
• Ensure all respiratory care services are delivered in accordance with hospital policies and procedures
• Demonstrate professionalism, clinical competency, and commitment to organizational values

Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Active Respiratory Therapist License in the State of Ohio
• National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certification
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP Certifications (may be obtained during orientation)
• S.T.A.B.L.E. Certification (may be obtained within the first year)

Preferred Skills:

• 13 years of respiratory therapy experience in a clinical or hospital setting
