This role sits between the help desk and our senior engineers: you will own escalated support issues, administer Linux systems, and help our engineering staff with the tools and environments they use to build software.This is a good fit for someone who already has solid help desk experience, is comfortable on the Linux command line, and wants to keep growing into systems administration and DevOps-style work. We value curiosity and a willingness to learn as much as a long list of certifications.ResponsibilitiesTier 2 SupportServe as the escalation point for help desk tickets in ServiceNow; troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, network, and account issuesSupport Windows and Linux endpoints, Dell Latitude and Precision hardware, and peripheralsAssist with user onboarding and offboarding, including account provisioning, imaging, and device setupTroubleshoot identity and access issues across Active Directory, Entra ID, and Okta MFASupport Microsoft 365 (GCC High) services including Exchange Online, Teams, and Teams PhoneWrite and maintain knowledge base articles and procedures; mentor Tier 1 staffLinux Systems AdministrationInstall, configure, patch, and maintain Linux servers and workstations (RHEL/Alma and Ubuntu)Manage users, permissions, packages, services, storage, and logsWrite Bash (and ideally Python) scripts to automate routine tasksSupport Linux virtual machines in VMware vSphere and AWS GovCloudApply security hardening and compliance baselines (e.g., STIGs, CIS) in coordination with IT SecurityDeveloper and Engineering SupportSupport engineers' development environments, toolchains, and licensed softwareAssist with administration of GitLab, including user access, runners, and CI/CD pipeline troubleshootingHelp build and support containerized workloads (Docker) and related build workflowsTroubleshoot certificate, proxy, and network issues that affect developer toolsClassified and Compliance SupportSupport systems in a classified lab (Open Storage Area) in accordance with security proceduresFollow change management, asset tracking, and documentation requirementsSupport CMMC / NIST SP 800-171 compliance activities alongside IT and InfoSecBasic Qualifications3+ years of IT support experience, including at least 1 year in a Tier 2 or escalation role.Must possess an active Secret security clearance or be able to obtain one.Must possess a current CompTIA Security+ certification or be able to obtain it within the first 12 months of employment.Must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for this position.Preferred QualificationsScripting experience in Bash, Python, or PowerShellFamiliarity with Git and GitLab (or similar) and basic CI/CD conceptsExperience with Docker or other container toolsExposure to VMware vSphere and/or AWS (GovCloud a plus)Experience with endpoint management tools (ManageEngine Endpoint Central, Intune) or EDR (CrowdStrike)Experience in a DoD, defense contractor, or regulated environment (CMMC, NIST 800-171, DFARS)Certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, Security+, Network+, RHCSA, or equivalent (Security+ preferred for DoD 8140 alignment)About nou SystemsSince its founding in 2012, nou Systems has built a reputation for excellence in innovative engineering, prototype development, and technical and professional services in multiple markets, including missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, and space control.
