Progressive Care Nurse - Night Shift

This is a 13-week contract position.

Job Description

The Progressive Care Nurse will provide care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients on a medical/surgical unit that do not require transfer to the ICU. The role includes delivering physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients. Anticipated patient populations include, but are not limited to:

• Post-operative surgical patients requiring increased monitoring
• Pre and post-PCI care
• Pacemaker placement
• Revascularization
• Carotid endarterectomy not on titratable drips
• Thoracotomy
• Heart failure (CHF)
• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Renal failure
• Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
• Pulmonary embolism (PE)
• Sepsis

Staff will expect patients to be in relative stability while recognizing that some diagnoses may require skilled assessment and intervention tools for potential deterioration. Responsibilities include operating advanced medical equipment and caring for patients with various support needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care for patients from admission to discharge
• Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care
• Assess and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision
• Act as a clinical leader and assist with precepting staff
• Manage medication administration and common IV medications

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current State of Montana RN Licensure
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
• EPNC and TNCC certification preferred but not required
• Experience with advanced medical equipment and cardiac telemetry preferred
• Pediatric experience preferred
