Position Information Business Title: Staff Counselor Applications Accepted From: University Wide Special Instructions to Applicants: This is being posted University Wide and is open to all current Ohio University employees. Provide individual, couple and group counseling, conduct initial intake and triage assessments and psycho-diagnostic assessments, crisis interventions, mental health consultation, primarily to medial students. Be part of after-hours crisis rotation team. Provide outreach, training and consultation to staff, faculty and students Supervise and evaluate clinical work of masters interns and trainees Attend weekly clinical and staff meetings and participate in committees within and outside the center. Complete clinical documentation and clinical preparation; perform administrative duties as assigned by the director. Position Profile Provides mental health care and education to students and the University community. May provide services in a specialized area. Provides triage, intervention, and crisis support services.Provides individual and group therapy. Collaborates with other medical personnel concerning patient care. Coordinates and/or participates in community outreach programs. Level Summary Manages and resolves complex and ambiguous issues. Works on both strategic and operational challenges, addressing problems that require advanced knowledge and experience. Often takes on leadership roles in projects or initiatives. Supervisory Responsibilities Provides mentorship and guidance to team. Infrequently has a limited number of direct reports. Fiscal Responsibilities May have budgetary responsibility for small-scale projects or initiatives. Problem Solving Solves complex problems, often with limited guidance. Independence of Action Works independently; seeks guidance for unusual situations. Communication and Collaboration Collaborates with team members and external departments. May represent the team in meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Physical Requirements This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or in a related field and 5 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience. Healthcare professionals must hold, or be eligible for, appropriate licensure as required by position.
