Supervisory Veterinary Medical Officer - Veterinarian in Charge(VIC) OR Area VIC

Duties

The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity. The duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Veterinarian in Charge - Oversees technical operations at the New World Screwworm (NWS) Dispersal Center.
• Provides authoritative expertise on diseases of national and international significance to ensure uniform and accurate application of national policies and procedures.
• Interprets and manages the technical approach for inspections and suggests changes or alternatives to meet program requirements.
• Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with State animal and public health officials, industry representatives, academics, accredited veterinarians, and other stakeholders.
• Implement new, revised, or experimental techniques for disease control or eradication.
• Assesses the impact of national programs and strategies at the local level and recommends changes or new program initiatives to respond to changing agricultural, producer and consumer needs.
