Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Surg Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: PM Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 4 years of experience in telemetry and IMCU License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: 2+ years of RN experience Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who coordinates patient care delivery by the healthcare team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient and identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems. The RN develops and implements an individualized plan of care and evaluates the patient's response. The RN promotes safe passage for patients by using knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment. The RN delegates interventions to healthcare personnel based on the nursing practice act, each patient's condition, and the competencies of the employee. The RN's role encompasses care in both hospital inpatient and outpatient departments with 24/7 staffing, including areas requiring on-call staffing. Essential functions include using clinical judgment for accurate assessments, identifying patient and family needs, developing and evaluating the nursing plan of care, and modifying plans as necessary. The RN systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and supports evidence-based practice changes. They create a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and families while maintaining appropriate boundaries. The RN recognizes unique differences in patients and incorporates these into individualized care plans. They preserve the confidentiality, autonomy, and dignity of patients and represent their concerns. The RN facilitates learning for patients and families to help them make informed decisions about their healthcare. Collaboration with colleagues is vital to develop and implement integrated plans of care. The RN utilizes problem-solving strategies to deliver patient care while considering safety, effectiveness, and efficiency. Professionalism is demonstrated through participation in shared governance, decision-making, and ongoing professional growth. Knowledge of nursing standards, patient care, medical terminology, and ethical principles is essential. The RN must possess strong communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse constituencies. The RN also needs to have general computer skills, including knowledge of electronic medical documentation and scheduling systems.
