Primary Job Function: The supervisor is responsible for managing the food service program, communicating with parents and community, creating marketing materials, and performing related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Five (5) years of relevant school nutrition program experience. Four (4) years of clerical experience. Three (3) years of successful experience in communications department duties. Three (3) years of experience using Photoshop, Corel Draw, or other design software. ServSafe Certified through the National Restaurant Association and accreditation by the American National Standards Institute Conference for Food Protection. Supervisory experience in institutional food management, large quantity food preparation and service, or school food service management. Extensive knowledge of appropriate laws and regulations regarding food service. Experience with online point of sale (POS) software. Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with diverse populations. In-depth knowledge of best writing and messaging practices for business correspondence, public relations, advertising, marketing, and social media. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Program Administration and Compliance Assist in administering all food programs to ensure compliance with all relevant policies and regulations. Prepare financial reports, federal and state reports, district reports, and other necessary correspondence. Assist with annual audits and preparation for the State Administration Review. Compile and file data for the district for Summer EBT payouts to families. Perform Direct Certifications (ODDEX) several times a year. Communication and Community Outreach Coordinate and oversee the translation of all Food Service communication to ensure accessibility in primary languages spoken by families. Establish and oversee community outreach events. Create marketing materials including breakfast and lunch menus, special lunch days, and contest flyers. Enhance social media presence and develop a marketing strategy. Update district website with current Food Services information adhering to district brand standards. Coordinate the appearance and consistency of all print and electronic departmental material. Nutritional Planning and Data Management Assist with menu and nutrition planning to ensure USDA meal pattern compliance. Maintain up-to-date nutritional data in the Health-e-Pro online menu platform. Review and monitor Health-e-Pro production records and assist Head Cooks to ensure guidelines are followed. Establish and oversee contests to increase participation for National School Breakfast and Lunch weeks. Staff and Office Operations Track Professional Standards for all food service staff to ensure yearly continued education is met. Add new employees to the Point of Sale system. Prepare beginning of the year folders for cooks including calendars, policies, pay schedules, and contact lists. Place food orders with vendors as needed. Obtain substitute staff and work in kitchens during substitute shortages. Collect documentation for the Serving Up Success employee recognition program. Student and Family Services Coordinate the Summer school breakfast and lunch program. Manage end-of-year communications for senior families regarding lunch account balances, donations, or refunds. Process refunds for families who move out of the district. Coordinate with Payschools to select families for income verification and manage the outreach process. Professionalism and Committee Oversight Oversee the Wellness Committee. Stay current on positioning and marketing of other school district nutrition programs. Complete required annual continued education, civil rights training, and HACCP training. Maintain outstanding attendance and punctuality. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: School lunch program regulations. Food handling, safety, and sanitation regulations. English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Word processing, spreadsheet, and database management applications. Skilled in: Exercising tact and discretion when communicating with students, parents, staff, and the public. Proper telephone techniques. Organizational and problem-solving skills. Effective, active listening. Ability to: Maintain respect at all times for confidential information. Physical Demands & Working Conditions Physical Demands: The employee must communicate regularly, sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, stoop, crouch, climb, and kneel. The employee must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry office supplies and materials up to fifty pounds on occasion. Working Conditions: The employee may experience occasional exposure to heat and humidity and may need to interact with unruly children. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace. Driving Requirement: This position may require driving and operating a vehicle in inclement weather conditions.
