Emergency Room Social Worker

Position Purpose Social Worker intervenes with patients who have complex psychosocial needs, requiring assistance with eligibility determination for social programs and funding sources, and qualifies for community assistance from a variety of special funds and agencies. The position is in person, onsite, with a requirement to assist other MCHS Emergency Departments virtually through a telehealth platform. In addition, the ED Social Worker offers crisis intervention to patients and families with psychosocial needs, coordinates and facilitates the development of a discharge plan of care for high-risk patient populations, performs behavioral health and lethality assessments, makes recommendations, and places patients in inpatient psychiatric hospitals as indicated. The Social Worker must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient served and understanding of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles. Position Details Employment Type: Part time Shift: Thursday and Friday 8p-8a Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in social work from an accredited program. LISW license in the State of Ohio required. Two years minimum of recent discharge planning experience in an acute care setting and knowledge of basic medical terminology and basic computer skills.
