Sonographer - Sonographer
Position Overview

As a Sonographer, you perform general diagnostic ultrasound examinations to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment planning. You acquire high-quality images, document findings, and communicate with physicians to support clinical decision-making.

You maintain equipment and ensure patient safety and comfort during scanning and imaging procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and perform a range of ultrasound exams
• Acquire clear images and measurements; document findings in the patient record
• Collaborate with radiologists and clinicians to interpret results
• Maintain equipment and manage supplies; ensure infection control
• Explain procedures to patients and respond to questions
• Assist with scheduling and workflow optimization in the imaging department
• Adhere to privacy regulations and documentation standards
• Participate in quality assurance and ongoing education

Qualifications

Education:

Accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or equivalent

Licensure:

State licensure requirements may apply; certification typically required

Certifications:

• ARDMS certification (RDMS or equivalent) or CCI
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Experience or Skills:

Experience across common ultrasound modalities; strong patient communication and technical skills

Experience

• Clinical ultrasound experience in hospital or clinic settings
• Experience with PACS, reporting, and documentation

Preferred

• Specialization in a modality (abdomen, vascular, small parts)
• Experience with advanced imaging techniques

Work Environment

Work in radiology or diagnostic imaging departments; fast-paced workflow with cross-department collaboration

Documentation in electronic systems and adherence to safety and privacy standards is required.
