Job Description
This role focuses on assembling custom metal components into finished extendable bed systems that are installed in the back of emergency service vehicles, such as police and fire trucks, to organize and store tools and supplies. You will work with both metal and wood materials to build and crate final products for shipment, using a wide range of hand and power tools. The position involves installing decks, drawers, slides, and various accessories into the final assembly while ensuring accuracy, durability, and quality craftsmanship.
Responsibilities

• Assemble metal parts from the welding and fabrication shop into complete extendable bed systems for emergency service vehicles.
• Install decks, drawers, slides, and other accessories into the final product according to specifications and build plans.
• Perform drilling, sawing (metal and wood), riveting, and light metal fabrication to complete assemblies.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, including panel saws, table saws, staple guns, drills, and other equipment, in a safe and efficient manner.
• Measure materials accurately with tape measures and apply basic math skills to ensure precise cuts, fits, and alignments.
• Crate and prepare finished products for shipment, ensuring they are properly secured and protected.
• Lift and move materials and finished assemblies weighing up to 75 pounds as needed throughout the workday.
• Follow production schedules and general labor tasks to meet daily and weekly output goals.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area within the welding and fabrication shop.
• Adhere to all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment, and report any hazards or equipment issues.
• Collaborate with team members in general production and assembly activities to ensure high-quality, timely delivery of products.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated experience using hand tools and power tools in a production, assembly, carpentry, or mechanical environment.
• Ability to accurately use a tape measure and apply basic math skills for measuring, cutting, and fitting materials.
• Comfort working with both metal and wood materials, including drilling, sawing, and riveting.
• Experience in general production, assembly, or mechanical assembly work.
• Capability to lift and handle up to 75 pounds safely and repeatedly during the shift.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with your hands on projects involving tools and fabrication.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions and build plans.
• Commitment to following safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Automotive electrical experience is a plus.
• Press brake operation experience is a plus.
• Experience in welding is a plus.
• Forklift experience is a plus.
• Powder coating experience is a plus.
• Metal fabrication experience is a plus.
• Prior experience in a welding or fabrication shop environment is beneficial.

Work Environment
This position is based in a welding and fabrication shop environment with active production and assembly work. You will typically work a Monday through Friday schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with regular opportunities for additional hours, usually totaling about 45-50 hours per week. The role requires wearing composite-toed shoes and safety glasses at all times in production areas, and following all established safety protocols. You will work around welding, fabrication, and general assembly equipment, using various hand and power tools in a fast-paced, hands-on setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boise, ID.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $20.50/hr.
