Job Description Summary Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results. Entity / Organization Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) Job Details Position Type: Employee – Regular Pay Rate: Hourly (Pay Grade Health‑27) Scheduled Hours: 36 per week on rotating 3‑12 hour shifts, including weekends Sign‑on bonus: Up to $10k with a 2‑year service agreement for external candidates with at least 2 years of acute care experience. Unit Description 8W is a 24‑bed inpatient mixed General Surgery / Neuroscience unit for adult and geriatric patients in the West wing on the 8th floor. The unit manages general surgery, medicine, and neuroscience patients, including stroke, neurology, neurosurgery, and spine cases. All patient rooms are private. Minimum Training and Education Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. Associate or Diploma degree RN hired after July1,2013 must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN within four years of hire or reclassification. Minimum one year of registered nurse work experience. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations Registered nurse licensure by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (e.g., AHA BLS or American Red Cross CPR/AED). Physical and Mental Requirements Ability to stand, sit, walk continuously. Ability to walk up stairs and work in confined spaces. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb unassisted; lift/transfer patient requiring 50 lb of force. Good vision, hearing, and fine motor skills. Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, in latex‑safe environment. Additional sensory requirements for selected positions (olfactory, respirator qualification). Employment Base and Conditions Regular employee with 36 scheduled weekly hours, rotating shifts, and sign‑on incentive for qualified external candidates.
