Job Details Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Medical Physicist for a 6-week travel assignment in Houston, Texas. Required Qualifications: Two years' recent experience as a Medical Physicist in a radiation therapy department Current BLS certification ( AHA/ARC ) Valid Medical Physicist license in compliance with state regulations Preferred Qualifications: Master's or Doctorate Degree Current American Board of Radiology Certification Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position Summary: Medical physicists are responsible for the safe and effective use of radioactive equipment at hospitals and research laboratories. They oversee the use of X-ray machines and radiation to optimize radiation dose distributions and treatment plans. Additionally, they administer treatments in the radiology and oncology departments of hospitals. Essential Work Functions: Planning and ensuring safe and accurate treatment of patients undergoing radiation therapies Providing expert advice on radiation protection to minimize exposure risks to patients, staff, and the public Manage comprehensive radiotherapy quality assurance programs Perform Mathematical modeling to optimize radiation dose distributions and treatment plans Oversee the design, operation, and maintenance of radiation equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and safety Conduct regular calibration and maintenance of equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations Collaborate with members of a multidisciplinary team regarding patient treatments and dosage of radiation therapies Write detailed reports documenting procedures, results, and compliance with safety protocols Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of medical physics Required Essential Skills: Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel.
