We work closely with all providers and caregivers to ensure the best possible outcomes for every patient we serve.How you'll contributeAn Occupational Therapist who excels in this role:Assumes responsibility and accountability as indicated for the care of those patients being treated by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians and occupational therapy students. May be assigned to orient staff and students and assume the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor in the absence of that individual as qualified to do soAssesses patients' needs; identifies and initiates appropriate occupational therapy interventions; works cooperatively with other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional occupational therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamworkObserves and evaluates treatment affect, accomplishment of short and long term goals. Recommends change to physician, if neededPerforms an appropriate assessment on each patient and performs reassessments, as per policy. Performs accurate and timely QI scoring. The population is adult and geriatric patients requiring an adult medical rehabilitation program and servicesAble to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function of participation in rehabilitation; makes appropriate interventions to reduce pain; makes appropriate physician contact for interventionPerforms all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errorsOther duties as assignedWhy join usWe believe that investing in our employees is the first step to providing excellent patient care. We are proud to offer five major service lines, including orthopedics, cardiology, general surgery, women's care, and emergency medicine, as well as many other areas of subspecialty care.What we're looking forQualifications:· Required Licenses: Active NC Occupational Therapist License· Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy· Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Physical Requirements: Physically, the OT is required to assist in moving and lifting patients; to push/pull heavy objects (e.g. wheelchairs or stretchers); to stay on their feet for long periods; to bend and stoop; and to reach above shoulder height. Patients may vary in size from as little as 80 pounds to as large as 400 pounds and may be totally dependent in all aspects of daily living or relatively independent.
