Senior Software Engineer

Oscar is working with a leading trading firm that is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join their team. As the Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and enhance the firm's mission-critical market data platform. You'll work with Bloomberg market data products-including BPIPE, Data License, and Back Office feeds -while helping scale the firm's data architecture to support expanding trading strategies and growing data volumes. This is a backend engineering role focused on building highly scalable, resilient, and high-performance data platforms rather than front-office trading applications. Key Responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain applications that process and distribute Bloomberg market data feeds. Develop scalable systems for storing, organizing, retrieving, and serving large financial datasets. Architect and implement robust backend services supporting high availability, low latency, and operational reliability. Collaborate closely with trading, quantitative research, and operations teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. Enhance the firm's market data platform by improving performance, automation, monitoring, and resiliency. Contribute to software architecture, DevOps practices, deployment automation, and production support. Help evolve the firm's data platform to support new data sources and increasing market data volumes. Required Qualifications: 5-8 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably within financial services or another data-intensive environment. Strong proficiency in Core Java with deep object-oriented programming expertise. Experience designing scalable, maintainable, and production-grade software architectures. Hands-on experience working with large-scale datasets, including data ingestion, storage, retrieval, and processing. Strong understanding of database technologies and data modeling concepts. Experience with DevOps practices, including deployment automation, monitoring, and production support. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Preferred Qualifications: Market data platforms or trading systems Bloomberg BPIPE, Data License, Terminal APIs, or other Bloomberg products Apache Kafka or other messaging and streaming technologies Time-series databases and real-time data processing systems Containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes Understanding of capital markets, trading workflows, and financial instruments Recap: Location: New York City, NY (Hybrid) Salary: 225k-300k base + Benefits #J-18808-Ljbffr
