Senior Tax Accountant

I am looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join a growing, privately held CPA firm serving small businesses, as the firm's first dedicated tax hire with a defined path to Tax Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare business and individual returns, mostly Schedule C and 1120S, with some 1065 and 1120 returns.
• Own the full return process from document requests and follow-ups through explaining results to clients.
• Serve as the primary tax point of contact for a small business client base.
• Learn how client data and financial statements feed into returns, including where the numbers come from and how calculations are done.
• Support and gain exposure to an ongoing bookkeeping cleanup initiative across the client base.
• Help shape tax workflows, processes, and the use of technology as the department grows.
• Grow into a Tax Manager role, eventually building and leading a team.

Requirements

• Minimum of three full tax seasons; four or more preferred.
• Hands-on preparation experience across a mix of Schedule C, 1120S, 1065, and 1120 returns.
• CPA preferred. CPA candidates with exam sections passed, or EAs, will also be considered.
• Experience serving small business clients preferred.
• Proven experience owning client communication directly.
• Clear ambition to move into a Tax Manager role and build a team.
