Company Description The Norfolk Daily News is a family-owned newspaper based in Norfolk, Nebraska, and has been owned and operated by the Huse family since 1888. As one of only two family-owned newspapers in the state, it has a long-standing tradition of community-focused journalism. The paper publishes six days a week, serving Madison County through single-copy and home delivery. Its digital presence at extends local news coverage to online readers and supports a modern, multiplatform news operation.

Role Description The regional reporter is a full-time, on-site role located in Norfolk, NE. This position is responsible for covering regional news, including local government, community events, public safety, and human-interest stories, with an emphasis on accuracy, fairness and timeliness. Day-to-day tasks include researching and developing story ideas, conducting interviews, verifying information, and writing clear, engaging news articles for print and online platforms. The regional reporter also will collaborate with editors and other newsroom staff on story planning, contribute to multimedia coverage such as photos or short video clips, and attend meetings or events as needed to maintain strong community connections. The role requires meeting deadlines, adapting to breaking news situations, and upholding the publication’s standards of ethical journalism.

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Knowledge of AP style and best practices in ethical, non-discriminatory reporting.

• Ability to work on-site in Norfolk, NE, manage multiple assignments, and meet daily deadlines.

• Familiarity with local or regional news coverage and comfort attending public meetings and community events.

• Proficiency with digital content management systems and basic computer applications.
