Senior Associate - Insurance Recovery

Farella Braun + Martel LLP is seeking a Senior Associate (6 years+) to join our nationally respected Insurance Recovery Practice. While insurance coverage experience is a significant plus, exceptional writing, analytical ability, and courtroom instincts are a must. Farella’s Insurance Recovery Group works exclusively with policyholders, helping them maximize the value of their insurance, resolve coverage disputes, structure insurance programs, and draft policy language tailored to their business needs. Insurance coverage work sits at the intersection of contract interpretation, sophisticated commercial litigation, and high-stakes risk management. Our clients face complex coverage disputes across a wide range of industries and policy types. We are looking for a senior associate who wants to own cases — someone who will develop strategy, drive negotiations and litigation forward, and deliver results for highly sophisticated clients alongside talented, in-demand partners. The ideal candidate will be prepared to handle the following responsibilities: Evaluate and pursue complex insurance claims, including coverage analyses, insurer communications, and strategy development. Advocate for clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and coverage litigation. Manage information flow among insurers, clients, and defense counsel to maximize coverage opportunities. Communicate clearly and frequently with clients to reduce the stress and uncertainty inherent in insurance disputes. The annual base compensation range for this California position is between $310,000 and $352,500. Placement within the salary range depends upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, years of relevant experience and professional skills required for this role. Additional compensation may include discretionary hours-based and additional bonuses, health/welfare benefits, vacation and leave time (including parental and sabbatical), and paid holidays. In-person attendance and collaboration enable us to provide excellent client service and is critical to an Associate’s professional development.
