Role Description The Behavioral Health Therapist is a full-time, on-site role based in Carroll, IA, providing direct therapeutic services to individuals, families, and groups. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing person-centered treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based counseling and psychotherapy interventions. The therapist will monitor client progress, document sessions and treatment updates in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards, and coordinate care with other clinicians, medical providers, and community resources. Additional duties involve participating in case consultations, crisis intervention, and outreach or education efforts as needed to support community mental health. The role also includes maintaining professional boundaries, upholding client confidentiality, and engaging in ongoing training and supervision to ensure high-quality, ethical care. Qualifications Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Iowa as a mental health professional (e.g., LMHC, LISW, LMFT, psychologist), and a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related behavioral health field. Demonstrated skills in individual, family, and group therapy, including the use of evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, or other relevant modalities. Experience conducting clinical assessments, developing treatment plans, and documenting client care in compliance with legal, ethical, and agency standards. Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, community partners, and diverse client populations. Ability to manage caseloads effectively, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records using electronic health record (EHR) systems. Commitment to culturally responsive care, client-centered practice, and maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries. Willingness to participate in supervision, continuing education, and quality improvement activities; prior experience in community mental health or rural settings is beneficial.
