DescriptionSUMMARYWe are currently seeking a Development Officer Senior - Grants to join our Hennepin Healthcare Foundation department. This full-time role will primarily work hybrid (days). Purpose of this Position: This position is responsible for grant writing, including prospecting, proposal development, and post-award grant management, as well as philanthropic operations, including strategic planning, promotion, budget, standards, organization, and industry policies, compliance, and evaluation.RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for grant writing and philanthropic operations, including strategic planning, promotion, budget, standards, organization, and industry policies, compliance, and evaluationManages a robust pipeline of grant prospects using online subscription services, internet, print, and interpersonal resources to identify and qualify government, foundation, and corporate funding opportunitiesWrites and submits government and foundation grants, in collaboration with program leads.This includes creating a detailed annual plan of work, managing the budget and schedule, grant/proposal development and deadlines, standard communication, evaluation, and acknowledgment processCollaborates with health system administrative and foundation leadership in identifying appropriate opportunitiesBuilds and maintains a portfolio of funders by fostering relationships, responding to requests for proposals, hosting/participating in meetings, conducting site visits, or other appropriate activitiesMaintains accurate and clear electronic and paper (where required) recordsWorks closely with HHF team members and Finance to share activity, promote outcomes, comply with contract and regulatory requirements, maintain accurate records as to submissions in fund accounting and relevant databases, and to assure accurate and timely reporting to funders and regulatory agenciesWrites and provides editorial leadership in preparing compelling cases for support, proposals, and letters of intent in response to funding source requirementsMaintains current knowledge of safety-net hospital and clinical issues and emerging best practices, e.g., health equity, in meeting patient and public health needs. Assists in maintaining hospital partnerships and collaborations related to strategic prioritiesParticipates in and/or leads work teams as requestedPartners with and assists HHF colleagues in the creation of grant-related promotional materials for print, web and video, including newsletter articles, certificates, and proposals demonstrating the impact of grants at HCMCManages work plans, priorities, budgets, standards, organization, and industry policies, compliance, evaluation, and communication strategiesTracks and monitors data, course correcting as needed to meet annual goals and performance metricsSupervises team members, volunteers, and interns as appropriate in accordance with HCMCleader standardsAdheres to the professional standards and conduct of the Grant Professionals AssociationOther duties as assignedQualificationsQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s DegreeFour (4) years of successful experience in a combination of grant writing, fundraising, portfolio management, donor relations, event planning, writing/journalism, and people managementORAn approved equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Qualifications:Analytical skills and the ability to use analytical toolsKnowledge of safety net hospitals and health equity issuesFederal Grant experience. 2 yrs experience managing federal grant awardsKnowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:Excellent research and oral/written communication skillsProficiency with relevant computer programs, including Microsoft OfficeAbility to independently manage grant-seeking initiativesStrong organizational skills and attention to detailStrong relationship-building skills with both funders and hospital colleaguesAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyGeneral knowledge of healthcare fundraisingClosing ParagraphYou've made the right choice in considering Hennepin Healthcare for your employment.
