Registered Nurse - Med Surg/Telemetry

The Registered Nurse will assume responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients during their shift. This role includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care based on age-specific criteria. Judgments are made using scientific knowledge and clinical skills. The RN will also assist in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff, including LPNs and PCTs.

Schedule

7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (12 Hour Nights) / Every Other Weekend

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will assume responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients during their shift. This role includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care based on age-specific criteria. Judgments are made using scientific knowledge and clinical skills. The RN will also assist in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff, including LPNs and PCTs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and develop care plans.
• Implement and evaluate patient care interventions.
• Assist in the education and training of non-RN staff.
• Administer cardiac medications and oversee their titration.
• Monitor telemetry data and interpret heart rhythms.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient status, including signs of stroke.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ years of nursing experience - Required
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification - Required
• Active American Heart Association ACLS certification - Required
• Active Ohio/OH or Compact RN License - Required
• Competency with cardiac medications (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro) - Required
• Knowledge of telemetry and heart rhythm interpretation - Required
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills - Required
