Residential Manager

Northpointe is a Community Mental Health (CMH) organization providing services to individuals with serious mental illness, emotional disturbance, substance abuse disorders, and intellectual/developmental disabilities across Iron, Dickinson, and Menominee counties in the UP of Michigan. Northpointe itself was established in 1995 but has roots as a CMH dating back to 1964. Our presence can be found through remote emergency services, in school and home-based programs, and in clinical and residential home settings.

The Residential Manager supervises and manages a home for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or a mental illness to ensure delivery of high quality and safe care in a comfortable home environment is provided. The Residential Manager shall ensure licensing and other regulatory requirements are followed.

Essential Duties

  • Assists clinical staff in planning, implementing, and monitoring each individual's individual plan of service.
  • Advocates for and ensures that the rights of each individual are protected.
  • Supervises and balances expenditures for each individual's personal funds.
  • Coordinates and implements a staffing schedule, meetings, individual appointments, and training.
  • Oversees and ensures compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
  • Completes necessary paperwork in a timely manner, including monthly residential occupancy report, employee infection control form, manages performance indicators data sheet, petty cash data sheet, bills, etc.
  • Maintains compliance with the budgetary guidelines set for the home.
  • Directly supervises residential support specialists and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Participates in interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
  • Plans, assigns, and directs work duties.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and implements corrective/disciplinary action as appropriate.
  • Addresses concerns and resolves problems.
  • Advocates for residents and serves as a liaison for communication with guardians and other members of the care team.

Education, Certifications, and/or Experience

  • Degree in a health-related field or nursing is preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience working with individuals with I/DD and MI required.
  • Experience working in a licensed adult foster care preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a supervisory or team lead role preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.

  • Must be knowledgeable and committed to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and to apply concepts of basic math.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to utilize a computer and electronic health record.
  • Participation in training and education as necessary to maintain current competency(s) in skill areas essential for implementing job duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and positive recognition as a supervisor.

  • The employee must be free of active tuberculosis.
  • The employee must wear appropriate personal protection equipment when indicated (may include N95 or PAPR hood).

Required Training

Training requirements established by licensing agencies, accreditation bodies, MDHHS, and NorthCare Network shall be followed upon hire, annually, and as necessary.
