Position Summary

The Security Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and employees at the hospital.  Responsibilities include providing security services, personal protection, traffic control assignments, and emergency services. Represents security services to patients, visitors, physicians, and employees.  The officer responds to all alarms, manages situations under the guidance of supervisory staff where there is inappropriate behaviors as well as safeguards others from harm during harmful and threatening situations.

This is a uniformed armed officer position

Qualifications:

• High school diploma
• Honorably discharged from a branch of the armed service or employment as a jailer in a law enforcement detention center
• Must meet all requirements as a merchant police officer
  
• Valid driver's license with no more than one moving violation in the past three years and no DUI
• Possess a working knowledge of applicable state laws, especially those dealing with use of force and detention powers
• Pass the qualification examination for firearms equal to that utilized by the KLETC for firearms certification of Law Enforcement Officers
