Licensed Practical Nurse

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities for performing technical direct and indirect nursing care in a medical clinic for individuals. This includes taking temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, along with various other technical nursing tasks in providing care to patients.

Typical functions include performing nursing procedures or specialized functions in accordance with knowledge, skills, and licensure. Participating in the evaluation of responses to interventions. Assisting in assessing, reporting, and recording health status of patients in a variety of settings. Participating in developing and implementing appropriate aspects of a plan of care. Administering medications as ordered. Reporting appropriate patient information to supervisor or appropriate health team member.

Level Descriptor:

• Level I: This is the basic level of the job family where employees perform routine entry-level tasks under close professional supervision and in a training status to build their skills in providing nursing care as a licensed practical nurse.
• Level II: This is the career level of this job family where employees are assigned responsibility for performing a full range of nursing assignments as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Responsibilities include providing guidance and training to others in completing routine nursing tasks and activities.

Requirements:

All health care staff shall be required to complete online training prior to coming to the facility. Documentation of completed training shall be provided to the facility Nurse Manager prior to assignment of temporary health care personnel. Education and Experience requirements consist of possession of a valid permanent license as a licensed practical nurse approved by the appropriate nursing board or a license recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact. Some positions may require that applicants be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with the position. Applicants must be willing and able to work any assigned shift or day of the week.
