Kean University is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member in History to teach introductory and advanced-level courses at its Union campus and other New Jersey sites.
Position Overview
- Non‑tenure track adjunct position, filled on an as‑needed basis.
- Requires a master’s degree in a related field (or ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D.) and teaching experience unless otherwise indicated.
- Proficiency in a Learning Management System is required.
- Adjuncts may teach courses online through Kean Global.
Responsibilities
Deliver assigned History courses in person or online.
Provide office hours: one hour per week for each 3 or 4 credit class, and 30 minutes per week for each additional class. For classes of fewer than three credits, provide at least 30 minutes per week. Additional office hours beyond these amounts may be offered at the faculty’s discretion.
Qualifications
Master’s degree (or ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D.) in History or a related discipline.
Prior teaching experience in a higher‑education setting.
Experience with Learning Management Systems.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $2,100 per credit effective September 2025; $2,225 per credit effective September 2026.
After teaching 13 semesters, receive an additional $75 per credit.
State‑administered retirement plan enrollment when eligible.
Eligibility to enroll in the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.
