Job Description

Join a world-renowned hospital in Palo Alto as a Facilities Maintenance Technician. This role involves performing diverse maintenance tasks and repairs on building systems including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, as well as general carpentry, painting, and groundskeeping. You will operate under general supervision, executing tasks according to established procedures, and may also coordinate with outside contractors and guide less-skilled staff.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems including equipment like boilers, pumps, motors, and fans.

• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment and building systems according to schedules.

• Perform general carpentry, painting, and minor construction tasks, such as repairing walls, floors, and doors.

• Diagnose and resolve issues with mechanical and electrical equipment and various building systems.

• Respond to facility-related complaints and work requests, complete documentation for tasks performed, and maintain records.

• Oversee and guide less-skilled staff and coordinate with outside contractors for repairs or specialized tasks.

• Routinely inspect assigned buildings and spaces to identify potential issues and initiate corrective actions.

• Adhere to safety procedures and regulations, such as those from OSHA, to ensure a safe working environment.

Essential Skills

• Knowledge and experience in basic trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC systems.

• Ability to use diagnostic tools and hand and power tools for repairs and maintenance.

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve equipment and facility issues.

• Effective communication skills with internal teams and external contractors.

• Physical ability to work in various environments, including working on ladders and scaffolding, and performing manual tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with boiler systems, electrical, plumbing, facilities maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, HVAC, mechanical, MEP, hydraulics, pneumatics, preventive maintenance, industrial tasks, painting, drywall, wiring, and motors.

• Familiarity with CMMS systems is a plus.

Work Environment

The position offers two different shifts: Tuesday - Saturday, 6:00am - 2:30pm and Sunday - Thursday, 9:00am - 5:30pm. You will be working in a supportive environment that uses technology such as electronic work orders and iPads, with the Maximo system for work order management being beneficial but not necessary to know beforehand.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Stanford, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $56.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
