CDL Class B DriverThe CDL Class B Driver is a key part of the local delivery process to our customers. This role requires hands-on support for freight loading, staging, and unloading using equipment such as a manual pallet jack, and a direct transfer of goods at the customer destination. This position will have a minimum of 30 hours as a driver, but could require 40+ hours, based on business needs. A typical schedule is Tuesday through Saturday.Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:Assist in loading and unloading trucks using pallet jacks and/or manual lifting.Transfer the items from the pallet onto carts for the client and maintain a clean, safe working environment.Conduct quality checks and inspections of goods to ensure quantity and condition match documentation.Operate a Class B commercial vehicle (e.g., box truck, straight truck) to deliver goods to local customers.Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance with DOT regulations.Secure loads effectively using straps, bolsters, or locks to prevent damage during transit.Maintain accurate electronic logs and delivery documentation (BOLs, invoices, and signatures).General Responsibilities:Facility & Vehicle MaintenanceMaintain a clean and organized dock area, ensuring it is free of debris and hazards to prioritize safety.Responsible for the routine cleaning and interior upkeep of the assigned commercial vehicle to ensure professional standards and cargo safety.Provide professional customer service to external and internal partners, including at delivery points, acting as the "face of the company."Perform other related job duties as assigned or required.Required Qualifications:A valid Class B CDL Drivers License is required.A minimum of 36 months experience working in a full-time Class B driving position in the previous 5 years.At least 12 months of full-time Class B vehicle driving experience within the last 3 years.No more than two (2) moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.No serious traffic violations or convictions while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.No clearinghouse violations in the last 5 years.Knowledge of all applicable DOT Regulations and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.Ability to satisfy FMSCA/DOT requirements including a clean drug and alcohol screen and a passing DOT physical.High level of reliability and commitment to the role.Strong communication skills with the ability to navigate interactions professionally.Must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public and respond to official inquiries to drivers.Must meet minimum age and insurability requirements (21 years of age or older) in accordance with company insurance policies and/or federal regulations governing commercial vehicle operation.Physical Requirements This position requires the physical ability to:Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle for extended periodsClimb in and out of trucks, trailers, and loading docks multiple times per shiftLift, pull, push, or carry up to 75 pounds as needed for loading/unloadingSit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as neededStand and/or walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours, depending on shift)Reach with hands and arms overhead and below waist levelOccasionally lift heavier items with or without assistanceMaintain manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate vehicle controlsEnter and exit the vehicle's cab multiple times per shift (truck seats are generally 5-6' off the ground; requires climbing 2-3 steps outside the cab and 1 step inside the cab before seating)Sit for extended periods while driving (up to 11 hours per day in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations)Pass and maintain DOT medical certification, including vision, hearing, and physical fitness standardsParticipate in DOT and Company required alcohol and controlled substance testing programWork in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)What's In It for You:Salary Range: Your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The employee may be exposed to:All types of weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)Varying traffic conditions, road hazards, and driving stressorsWarehouse and loading dock environments, depending on delivery requirementsNoise, vibration, and fumes from truck engines and other vehiclesDust, odors, and airborne particlesOccasional work in tight or enclosed spaces, including loading bays or truck cabsDrivers are expected to maintain alertness and focus for extended periods and may spend the majority of the shift alone in the vehicle. This role involves operating vehicles that are equipped with in-cab cameras, which may include both inward and outward facing video recording. These systems are used for safety monitoring, training, and compliance purposes, in accordance with company policy and applicable law.Location/Remote Eligibility This is a local driving position with daily routes originating from a local facility. Drivers return home each day.
