Laboratory - Medical Lab Technician

Medical Technologist Position

Varied 12-hour shifts every other Wednesday from 6 PM to 6:30 AM and every other Friday to Tuesday from 6 AM to 6:30 PM.

Job Description

This role requires a highly skilled Medical Technologist to work independently and as part of a team within a critical access hospital. The ideal candidate must be proficient in laboratory testing and phlebotomy while adhering to specimen collection protocols.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood specimens while maintaining knowledge of specific specimen requirements.
• Follow the correct order of draw based on tube type and special handling of tests.
• Utilize proper resources for obtaining specimen requirement information.
• Collect and enter off-site blood work into the system.
• Complete and process a variety of necessary forms.
• Obtain pre-authorization and patient signatures.
• Prepare specimens for in-lab testing or off-site shipment.
• Ensure blood-drawing stations are clean and well-stocked.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years current experience as a Medical Technologist (MT/MLS).
• National Certification (excluding NCCT).
• High proficiency in testing across all lab areas: phlebotomy, chemistry, hematology, blood bank, urinalysis, and microbiology.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Travel experience preferred.
