QC Chemist I

We are seeking a QC Chemist I. This person will conduct quality control analysis on substances to support our Production, Pilot Plant, and R&D groups utilizing quantitative and qualitative analysis. The QC Chemist I will utilize appropriate analytical methodologies and instrumentation to perform all duties.This is an hourly, 12-hour shift position. The QC Chemist I schedule is a day shift with a start time of 6:00am to 6:30pm. This position has the potential to transition into a night shift, from 6:00pm to 6:30am after a sufficient training period. All night shift hours pay a shift differential. The weekly rotation is:Week 1: 36 hours worked on Sunday, Wednesday, and ThuWeek 2: 48 hours (includes 8 hours of overtime pay) worked on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and SaturdayJob ResponsibilitiesPerforms analytical tests with the guidance of an experienced or Lead ChemistFocuses on final testing, but also performs in-process testing with guidance within 3 months of startFollows work instructions and test methods for product testing under supervisionConsults batch records and developmental test methods for pilot plant testingPrepares laboratory standards and reagentsPerforms analyses safely and participates in safety improvementsPerforms instrument validations and maintenance with guidance of Instrument Support TechnicianQualificationsBachelor's degree in Science with zero to three years of industrial experienceExperienceBasic wet chemistry experienceExperience running experiments in safe manner with proper PPEExperience reviewing dataExperience working in controlled environments and glove boxes preferredQuality control experience preferredWorking ConditionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
