Job Title Residence Hall Director Department: Upward Bound Supervisor: Fontina Taylor Responsibilities Cultivate a positive and engaging living environment that fosters a sense of belonging and enables students to build positive relationships. Maintain a high level of visibility and availability, including attending Upward Bound events, regularly touring the residence hall, and interacting with residents. Utilize program data to assess and respond to students’ needs; collaborate with faculty and staff stakeholders to implement programmatic opportunities, some of which may be connected with living/learning community themes. Supervise up to eight tutor counselors/resident assistants. Host daily staff meetings to communicate upcoming events, discuss community concerns, and facilitate professional development experiences related to the overall student development goals of the Mercer University Upward Bound Program; conduct regularly scheduled one‑on‑one meetings with staff members. Ensure staff members appropriately confront and document student behavioral issues and concerns. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, set up tables and chairs, and assist in event set‑up and clean‑up throughout the summer program. Provide regular formal and informal feedback regarding job performance. Ensure that tutor counselor duty procedures are followed. Oversee the implementation of programs and strategies that enable student achievement, success, and engagement goals.
