Transmission Line Engineer

Job Title: Transmission Line EngineerJob Description Join a dynamic team under the guidance of a Lead Engineer to execute projects ranging from Asset Maintenance Programs to Multi-Year Rebuilds/Tie Lines for multiple clients across the U.S. This role requires a willingness to travel to project sites as needed to gather data and engage with clients. You will be responsible for all aspects of designing overhead and underground power line projects, which includes line routing, finite element analysis, hardware/conductor selection, technical support during construction, and handling of permits and right‑of‑way requests. Responsibilities Work collaboratively with a team of engineers to complete projects for multiple clients. Design overhead and underground power line projects, including line routing and finite element analysis. Select appropriate hardware and conductors and provide technical support during construction. Handle One‑Calls, DOT and municipality permitting, and right‑of‑way requests. Develop an understanding of project deliverables, such as plan & profiles, structure load analysis, and design drawings. Coordinate internal and external reviews of designs before final submission. Essential Skills Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program. Proficiency in PLS CADD, AutoCAD, and transmission line design. 2+ years of experience in the field. Strong design engineering and high voltage transmission skills. Proficiency in MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project). Additional Skills & Qualifications Basic knowledge of overhead and/or underground electric facilities. Understanding of NESC, ASCE, and IEEE standards. Experience with GIS and MFAD. EIT certification with the ability to become a registered PE. Professional disposition and open‑mindedness in project planning and execution. Work Environment This position is based in the Austin, Texas office, working with the Power Delivery team in an in‑office environment. The role offers the opportunity to support a large utility and be part of a growing Transmission Line team. It is a contract‑to‑hire, long‑term opportunity with potential for bonuses and profit‑sharing options based on tenure. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $36.05/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
