R&D Chemist Family-owned specialty chemical company is looking for experienced coatings formulators for their new laboratory in Florida. If you have a chemistry background and spent time in a paint and coatings laboratory this could be a great opportunity for you! Duties: Lab Formulation: Mix, blend, and compound raw materials at bench scale to create prototype paints and coatings. Application Testing: Apply coatings to steel, plastic, and wood substrates via hand spray or aerosol cans. Performance Evaluation: Conduct rigorous testing including gloss, flexibility, adhesion, weathering, and color matching. Data Logging: Maintain precise laboratory notebooks and document all test results and processing steps. Plant Support: Assist in processing trials to ensure lab formulas can be successfully manufactured in the plant. Salary $65,000 - $75,000 Benefits M/D/401K Technical Qualifications: 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory setting within the paint and coatings industry. Basic understanding of polymer / paint chemistry, raw materials (resins, pigments, solvents, additives), and precise laboratory techniques. Experience with color matching and spray application.
