Job Title Lead Auditor- IATF Department Operations Reports To Sector Manager Job Objectives Defining scope of audits, plans and managing audits. Leads audit team in assessing the conformance of a management system to multiple standards and requirements. Verifies the existence of and implementation of management system elements. Prepares and presents audit reports. Reviews customer response to nonconformities for acceptance. Extensive overnight travel required. Essential Functions Develops and submits on time scope of certification and audit agendas through consultation with customers. Confirms audit days are adequate based on headcount and complexity. Presents audit plans to customers and the audit team. Manages the audit. Determines the customer’s degree of readiness for assessment to appropriate standards. Assists customers in understanding the standard and program requirements. Directs the conduct of the audit and the activities of audit team members. Assesses the conformance of the management system to multiple standards through performing system and process audits including review of customer documentation and records, interview of customer management and staff, and observation of customer processes. Documents audit results including audit trails, strengths and opportunities and nonconformities. Prepares audit reports and supporting documentation for submission on time. Reaches team consensus on the audit results having final responsibility for the team conclusions. Presents results of audit to client verbally and in writing. Assists in training, qualification and ongoing evaluation of candidate auditors and auditors. Assists in analyzing customer responses to nonconformities for acceptance in a timely manner. Performs audits in accordance with DQS Inc. program and accreditation requirements. Supports DQS Inc. key performance indicators and objectives. Performs other duties as directed. Experience / Education Required International Automotive Task Force (IATF) certification (Green Status in ADP) Exemplar Global or equivalent approved 40-hour QMS Lead Auditor training course with exam Four (4) years of full-time appropriate practical experience, including two (2) years dedicated to quality assurance and/or quality management activities in an automotive manufacturing organization Note: Experience in industries with similar scopes of applicability (e.g., Aerospace, Telecommunications, Rail, Industrial Off-Road Equipment, etc.), chemical, electrical, or metallic commodities may be considered. 5+ years of Auditing Experience (preferred) Knowledge of principles and methods for standard assessments Experience with management systems, 2nd and 3rd party certifications, ISO-9001 processes, and/or previous certification auditing/assessment skills is highly desired Knowledge in Automotive Core Tools (at minimum FMEA, MSA and SPC) Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications Critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning to identify solutions to concerns Excellent oral and written communication and follow-through skills Accountability Time-management Ability to work independently in a virtual, home-based environment Behaviors Continuous improvement mindset for effectiveness and efficiency Leadership – by example and mentoring Ongoing feedback, up or down the organization – to either acknowledge performance or to initiate improvement.
