Technical Editor and Writer 3 Location: Elkridge, Maryland (Onsite) Clearance: Secret Clearance Role Overview We are seeking Engineering Writers to join a high-performing team developing engineering documentation for advanced military systems. The successful candidates will be responsible for writing, rewriting, and editing various engineering documents to communicate technical information and instructions clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences. Key Responsibilities Write, rewrite, and/or edit engineering documents such as technical procedure manuals, test requirement documents (TRDs), user manuals, and operational specifications. Oversee the preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts. Conduct quality reviews of materials. Publish materials in various formats, including page-based, electronic, and structured (HTML, XML, SGML). Collaborate with task leads, writers, engineers, and instructors to develop and deliver sensor/system technical manuals. Perform Desktop Publishing tasks for reports, whitepapers, and articles. Research and compile information from program documents and engineering sources to develop manual outlines. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline or a related field. Alternatively, military operations and maintenance experience with radar, communications, electro-optics, networks, and information technology-based sensors/systems, or an engineering background, will be considered. Experience: A minimum of 5 years of technical writer experience for electronic systems is required. Candidates must be willing and able to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance, or have an Active Secret Clearance Technical Skills: Expertise with MS Office Suite, including Adobe Acrobat, is required. Knowledge of XML is also necessary. Preferred Qualifications Candidates with an active DOD Secret Clearance will be highly preferred for this role Minimum of 2 years' experience with structured authoring applications, such as Arbortext, MadCap Flare, or FrameMaker. Knowledge of Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE 100). Knowledge of standards such as S1000D and DITA for structured content.
