Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

PRN Amount of hours/days weekly will vary depending on surgery schedule and vacation of staff.

Duties: Duties include scrubbing cases along with assisting, pulling cases for next day surgeries or add-ons, setting up OR rooms for surgery, cleaning the room after surgery, putting instrument trays together, helping wash instruments

Overview

Parkland Health Center has two locations in St. Francois County, Missouri a full-service acute care hospital in Farmington as well as a rural emergency hospital in Bonne Terre. Parkland Health Center provides quality primary and secondary level inpatient and outpatient services to the people of St. Francois County and surrounding areas in southeastern Missouri.

In addition, Parklands Farmington campus offers a full continuum of inpatient and medical-surgical and intensive care, obstetrics and emergency services, along with a wide variety of outpatient services including oncology services, an infusion center, a wound care clinic, and the Huckstep Heart and Lung Center. Bonne Terre is a Rural Emergency Hospital providing emergency services and outpatient services including medical observation, lab, radiology, and sleep study.

The Surgical Services Department provides pre-op and post-op inpatient care to those patients undergoing specialty surgical procedures in the areas of abdominal solid organ transplant, vascular surgery, hepatobiliary, trauma, ear-nose and throat, and orthopedic procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Performs surgical duties for operating room procedures under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Experience: Less than 2 years or military equivalent experience
• Supervisor Experience: No Experience

Preferred Requirements

• Education: Accredited Surgical Program
• Licenses & Certifications: Surgical Technician
