Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LPC, LCSW)

Position Overview Columbia Mental Health is seeking a Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LPC, LCSW) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department in Washington, DC. In this role, you will provide compassionate, individualized psychotherapy and mental health care to a diverse adult and adolescent client population, addressing a wide range of conditions including mood disorders, anxiety, trauma‑related concerns, and co‑occurring challenges. Responsibilities As a core member of our interdisciplinary treatment team, you will conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, collaboratively develop treatment plans, and deliver evidence‑based individual, group, and family therapy. You will use modalities such as CBT, DBT, trauma‑informed approaches, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness‑based interventions, tailoring care to each client’s needs and goals. You will monitor progress, regularly reassess treatment effectiveness, and make clinically sound adjustments to interventions and treatment plans. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in our electronic health record, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Collaboration is central to this position; you will work closely with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic care, support medication management, and address social determinants of health impacting client well‑being. You will participate in case conferences, clinical team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives, contributing your clinical perspective to enhance service delivery. You will play an active role in crisis assessment and intervention, providing risk assessments, safety planning, and appropriate referrals or higher levels of care when needed. You will receive regular individual and group clinical supervision (as applicable), ongoing training, and continuing education to deepen your skills and stay current with best practices in mental health treatment. Qualifications The ideal candidate is an independently licensed LPC or LCSW in Washington, DC, who is clinically grounded, ethically driven, and comfortable working with diverse cultural backgrounds and identities. Strong clinical judgment, clear and compassionate communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team are essential. Familiarity with trauma‑informed care, culturally responsive practice, and outcome‑based treatment is highly valued.
