Assistant Professor - Row Crop Entomologist

UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

Position Summary Assistant Professor (row crop integrated pest management, emphasis on cotton) – tenure‑track (9‑month). Position is budgeted 65% research, 30% Extension, 5% service. Candidate will develop a nationally recognized research and extension program, secure external funding, publish high‑impact research, mentor students, participate in departmental and university service, and collaborate across multistate and international partners. Anticipated start date: August 3, 2026. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in Entomology or a related life science discipline. Preferred Qualifications One to two years of post‑doctoral experience. Strong record of scholarly achievement and excellent communication skills. Expertise in agroecology and IPM theory and practice, including invasive species management, resistance management, applied toxicology, transgenic and molecular approaches, population genetics, landscape ecology, or precision agriculture. Duties and Responsibilities Develop a nationally recognized research and extension program supported by competitive external funding. Publish high‑impact research and effectively disseminate findings to row‑crop producers and stakeholders via traditional and digital media. Mentor graduate and undergraduate students. Engage in departmental and university service, professional activities, and outreach. Collaborate with the UGA Cotton Team and other multistate and international partners. Physical Demands and Position of Trust The position requires field work, laboratory work, and occasional travel. Trust responsibilities: no driving, no direct interaction with minors, but access to chemicals and security credentials is required.
