If you are looking for a rewarding, long-term career where you can make a meaningful impact on the North Texas region, look no further than NTMWD!Job Description Summary:The Industrial Mechanic performs skilled preventative and corrective maintenance activities, in an industrial setting, related to the inspection, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment and production equipment including ozone generators, chemical equipment, air compressors, valves, piping, motors, pumps and various rotating assemblies.Job Description:Job ResponsibilitiesMaintains various water and wastewater treatment, purification and production related equipment and facilitates mechanical repairs necessary to keep equipment operating in an efficient manner.Maintains pumps, motors, pipes, actuators, valves using acquired repair and maintenance skills.Orders and purchases parts as needed to facilitate prompt repair and maintenance of District assets.Coordinates with water and wastewater operations personnel to assure critical equipment is operational.May be asked to assist other departments with various task during emergency repairs or routine maintenance.Performs all routine preventative maintenance tasks as specified in the equipment operations and maintenance manuals.Performs routine repair and preventative maintenance tasks on other equipment as directed.Observes safe work practices through proper use of safety equipment and procedures including permit required confined space entry and lock out tag out.Shift and Call RotationPersonnel assigned to a shift work location will be required to participate in a regular twelve-hour shift schedule and must be able to work overtime when neededPersonnel NOT assigned to a shift work location will be required to be on a rotational “ONCALL” status to respond to NTMWD repairs outside of normal business hours must be able to work overtime when neededMay train Assistants and new hires in safe work methods and troubleshooting of equipment.Must attend all required safety trainings and ensure that subordinate staff attends and is up to date on safety practices.Maintains and promotes safe work practices at all times.Performs other duties as assigned.Job RequirementsEducation & Experience:Must possess a high school diploma or GED.Minimum one-year experience in the maintenance of mechanical equipment similar to that used in the water/wastewater treatment industry.TCEQ Water / Wastewater license preferred.Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Must be able to read and understand technical manuals and drawings.Must be able to explain in clear concise language that is easily understood how to carry out repairs and maintenance to subordinates.Must have the ability to comprehend, carry out and administer written and oral instruction.Must become proficient in the use of the District Computerized Maintenance Management System.Must have the ability to read operations and maintenance manuals, schematics, blueprints and safety data sheets.Must possess considerable knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.Must develop some knowledge of electric and instrumentation so that when troubleshooting a problem that requires specialized expertise that should be handled by appropriate staff.Environmental and Physical Working ConditionsDriving a District vehicle for business will be required. Employees required to drive as part of their job duties are responsible for maintaining a current, valid, and vehicle - appropriate driver' s license of their resident state.This position requires continuous physical exertion often of a strenuous nature. Lifts or pulls/pushes 50 pounds on a daily basis and up to 100 pounds on a weekly basis in order to repair and service pumps, motors and machinery while using various hand tools and equipment. Working conditions include exposure to high voltage areas, weather, odor, noise, chemical hazards, gases and dust. Hand and power tools including drill press and lathe, welding equipment, emergency lighting equipment, safety equipment and crane.Compensation Range$25.94 - $38.39Compensation Grade25Thank you for considering a career with us!
