Job Title: Phlebotomist II - Frederick Job Description The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to support various operational tasks, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and recommend improvements for workflow efficiency. Responsibilities * Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data. * Decontaminate and update patient information as needed. * Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. * Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously. * Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles. * Understand all physician orders thoroughly. * Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately. * Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. * Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. * Package specimens for transport, ensuring storage at the required temperature and in appropriate containers. * Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. * Attend annual department training sessions. * Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed. Essential Skills * Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. * Minimum of 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. * High School Diploma or GED. * 2-4 years of relevant experience. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Frederick, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
